Your ingredient list, preferences, generated recipes, and shopping list are saved in your browser (IndexedDB / localStorage) so you can come back without an account. Clearing your browser storage deletes them permanently — there is no server copy.
Photos are compressed in your browser, then uploaded over an encrypted connection only so an AI vision model can read them. They are stored temporarily in private cloud storage and deleted immediately after the model call — they are not kept in a gallery, and we do not use them for training.
Photos are sent to our AI processing provider (Zhipu AI, for GLM-4V vision reading). We send only the photo and a short instruction — never your name, email, or device identifiers.
Dish photos are AI-generated images (never photos of your ingredients). They are stored in cloud storage and served publicly so your recipe cards can display them, and to allow caching — regenerating the same dish reuses the stored image instead of billing a new generation.
Recipe writing sends your confirmed ingredient names and preferences (cuisine, cooking time, allergies, and similar) to our text-generation provider. Allergy details you enter are used only to constrain the recipes for that request.
The optional 7-day meal planner sends your profile inputs (age, weight, height, activity, goal) to Google Gemini to draft the plan.
To keep the service free, daily usage limits are enforced on our servers using a one-way hashed (SHA-256) version of your IP address. The raw IP is not stored, and the hash cannot be reversed to identify you.
We use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and product events (for example "a recipe generation finished"). We do not send your photos, ingredient lists, allergy entries, or health details to analytics.
PlateFit has no sign-up, so we never collect an email address or password. Because there is no account, there is also no way for us to recover or export data saved only in your browser.
